From the age of nine, Valérie CHEVALIER received a musical and theatrical education, studying drama, flute and singing. After winning a gold medal in singing at the CNR de Rouen, she joined the École d'Art Lyrique de l'Opéra National de Paris, where she completed her musical training.
At the end of her studies, the Opéra National de Paris entrusted her with a number of roles. She then embarked on a career as a lyric artist, performing on national and international stages. She also takes part in radio programs and several television recordings.
After a six-year residency in New York, she obtained a post-graduate diploma in Cultural Management and Mediation from the Groupe EAC-ARTIS in Paris. She founded Agence Artistique Standing Ovation to represent instrumental ensembles, conductors, stage directors and opera artists. She is a regular guest on specialized radio programs, symposia and juries, both in France and abroad.
Director of Artistic Administration at Opéra National de Lorraine and Orchestre Symphonique et Lyrique de Nancy for nine years, Valérie CHEVALIER has been General Director of Opéra Orchestre National de Montpellier Occitanie since 2014.
She is a member of the Jury for the Ring Award directing competition.
Valérie Chevalier was a member of the Board of Directors of Opéra Europa and Vice-President of ROF, Réunion des Opéras de France.
She was named Chevalier de l'Ordre de la Légion d'Honneur in 2021.
