Three Manifestos (2009) by the late Colombian Luis-Fernando Rizo-Salom stages the spectacular clash of three "sonic manifestos", embodied by three spatialized instrumental groups - nuanced at the same time as cemented by weightless electronics. This triple confrontation is followed by two further manifestos, again with electronics. Mayu Hirano (photo above), a young Japanese composer who studied in Tokyo and Paris, offers John Stulz her first score for viola. It's an opportunity for her to suggest other parallel worlds, in the manner of the Ikaï of Noh theater. Italy's Aureliano Cattaneo tackles Nicolas Crosse's double bass, grappling with a ghostly (electronic) double.
