The Lyon Auditorium is one of only three concert halls in France with an organ. A privilege that makes it all the more important to open up the stage to young organists, and that's what these new Petits Concerts d'orgue are designed to do, with artists on the threshold of a brilliant career who certainly don't want to spend their careers hidden away in church galleries!
She's not yet 20, but already everyone's snapping her up. After a career as a precocious pianist, Alma Bettencourt has moved on to the king of instruments (according to Mozart), to our delight. Her program exalts the glorious history of the Auditorium organ, with a page composed for its inauguration in 1878 at the Palais du Trocadéro( Widor'sSixth Symphony ), another triumphantly launched by a concert at the Palais de Chaillot( Alain'sLitanies ) and a third, finally, premiered at the Auditorium in 2011 as part of Édith Canat de Chizy's residency. Transcriptions of works by Debussy and Tchaikovsky exalt its symphonic richness, while Liszt's sumptuous variations add a touch of majesty.
Running time: 1 hour 10 minutes with no intermission.
