Marie Jaëll, Piano Concerto No. 1 in D minor, Op. 17
In recent years, there has been renewed interest in French women composers of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century. This period of history, so remarkable for its variety of styles, was also one of slow recognition of the talent and genius of numerous female creators, such as Marie Jaëll. World-renowned composer and virtuoso pianist, composition student of Saint-Saëns and Fauré, excellent teacher and writer, she was at the center of European intellectual life. Yet her compositions were largely forgotten after her death. Célia Oneto Bensaid is one of the most singular and committed personalities of her generation. More than a talented pianist, she is also a true storyteller. In this concert combining music and storytelling, she reveals the life of Marie Jaëll through the works and correspondence that marked her life and that of her most faithful companions.
