Prokofiev's Violin Concerto No. 2 - Orchestre national de Metz Grand Est, Lionel Bringuier, Inmo Yang

Fanny Mendelssohn was an exceptional musician who, like so many other female composers, was constrained by social convention. She wrote many lieder, but very few works with orchestra, which she was unlikely to see performed. To present her Overture today is to do justice to the composer so cherished by her brother Felix. In this program, Fanny Mendelssohn will stand up to two giants of Russian music: Rachmaninov, with a symphony in which light triumphs over darkness after a bitter struggle; and Prokofiev, with a concerto so profoundly lyrical, in which the young Korean Inmo Yang shines,
winner of the 2022 Sibelius Competition.
