While Ireland is well known for its traditional music, the same cannot be said for Irish classical music, which is just as rich. The Orchestre National de Bretagne, in partnership with Dublin's National Concert Hall, has concocted a made-in-Ireland program highlighting musicians and composers from the Emerald Isle. Under the direction of Franco-Irish conductor Fiona Monbet, shortlisted finalist for the ONB's musical direction, this concert will showcase another facet of the Irish musical world, from Ina Boyle to Bill Whelan. For the occasion, the ONB has also commissioned a new work from Michael Gallen, one of the most prominent composers and performers on the Dublin music scene.
