Viviane Hagner has invited the musicians of the Orchestre National de Bretagne to join her in performing two masterpieces of chamber music: the Brandenburg Concerto and the Concerto for violin and oboe, whose writing would later inspire orchestral suites and symphonies. The mainstays of this program, Bach's works, will be accompanied by other pieces inspired by his compositions. Felix Mendelssohn is credited with rediscovering Bach after years of neglect. His Violin Concerto in D closely reflects this link with Bach's music. In the 20th century, composer Grażyna Bacewicz's Concerto for Strings is reminiscent of Bach's virtuosity. Tchaikovsky's Souvenir de Florence completes the program.
