Hommage à Fauré - Musicians of the Orchestre national de Metz Grand Est

Violin, viola, cello, flute and piano provide the sparkle in a program featuring the French chamber repertoire. Fauré's first Quartet for piano and strings precedes his Pavane, an elegant musical portrait of the legendary Countess Greffulhe. Among his pupils, Lili Boulanger, who died too soon, composed a bifrontier self-portrait with the twin pieces D'un soir triste and D'un matin de printemps, and Ravel paid tribute to his master with his
Berceuse sur le nom de Fauré. Rota's Trio for flute, violin and piano follows in their footsteps, with its chiselled clarity.
