For this second Ensemble Intercontemporain concert celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Musica festival, the iconoclastic German composer Enno Poppe will be conducting his own music, including Blumen for large ensemble, a French premiere. Poppe's Blumen ("flowers" in German) is a cycle of 15 short pieces, initially highly structured, like a well-composed bouquet (to borrow from the floral metaphor), which gradually become disorganized until they form a kind of chaos, a return to the "wild" state.
