Louise Jallu is one of those musicians who transcend borders. From small clubs to the Philharmonie de Paris, this French bandoneonist and composer has succeeded in attracting a new audience and taking a new look at tango: modern, full of light, tragedy and humor. In the pantheon of 20th-century composers, Louise places Piazzolla alongside Ligeti, Stockhausen and even Boulez, for the way he transformed tango into a modern, constantly evolving art form: "In Piazzolla's music, there is a kind of urgency, a rage, like a transposition of his life". Under the baton of young Quebec conductor Nicolas Ellis, shortlisted finalist for the ONB's musical direction and in partnership with Le Grand Soufflet, this concert also features composers directly influenced by Piazzolla, such as Argentinean Osvaldo Golijov and Frenchman Bernard Cavanna.
