Closed for several years due to renovations, Ircam's Espace de Projection reopened its doors last season. The soloists of the Ensemble intercontemporain are finally back in the "space" in which they have premiered numerous works. In these circumstances, as Ircam is obliged to do, this essentially chamber music program makes extensive use of computer music. Such is the case with Bec et ongles by the young Frenchman Bastien David, for violin and electronics, who writes in the title of his score: "Like the flight of a bird, this indocile song is concerned to exist through the expression of the movement of freedom". In Keter by German composer Sarah Nemtsov, the hybrid of computer music serves as a metaphor for the world around us, as well as for our innermost being: the title, in Hebrew, is borrowed from the Kabbalah and evokes "the most hidden of all hidden things". Graduating from Ircam's Cursus de composition et d'informatique musicale in 2021, the young Italian Matteo Gualandi also offers the Ensemble intercontemporain the premiere of a new work for chamber ensemble and electronics. Finally, this concert is an opportunity to extend the celebrations of Péter Eötvös' 80th birthday. In his Langsamer Marsch, he remembers Christophe Desjardins, a former violist with the EIC who died prematurely in 2020 - the title of the piece evoking the most beautiful viola pages by Schumann or Brahms.
