Programme

Unsuk Chin, New work
Carl Orff, Carmina Burana

Between religiosity and paganism, the galvanizing excesses of Carmina Burana resound between table and altar. Bonus: a creation by Korean composer Unsuk Chin, a master of dreamy colors and textures.

Sacred and profane rub shoulders in the score of Carmina Burana, whose famous chorus " O Fortuna " accompanied the screen performances ofExcalibur. Atypical, anachronistic yet immensely popular, Carl Orff's cantata is both bawdy and spiritual, celebrating the unifying power of music.

Accompanying this touchstone of the repertoire, a new work by Unsuk Chin, a major figure in the music of our time, invites us to contemplate dreamlike worlds.
