Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Symphony No. 40
There are many ways to venerate Bach. Mozart's revelation of Bach led him to copy his fugues in a frenzy. Others, in their adulation, twist the cantor's neck - witness Arvo Pärt. And that's what makes this journey back in time so exciting: the Grande Chaconne to begin celestially, then Pärt's Collage on B-A-C-H , bathing Toccata, Sarabande and Ricercar in vitriol, and, finally, the Olympian, the vehement, the incomparable Quarantième Symphonie by Amadeus. Where will the Lithuanian Justė Janulytė fit in?
